Position summary

We’re looking for an ambitious, results-driven Business Development Manager to join Kurogo. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape the business development function from the ground up as our first dedicated BD hire. Up until now, our CEO and COO have led sales, so we’re excited to have someone step in and take charge of our growth efforts.

You’ll lead all business development activities at the business, owning the full sales cycle - from generating and qualifying leads to closing deals and onboarding new clients. You’ll lead outreach efforts to secure meetings with entrepreneurs, CEOs, and public figures, and develop strategies to win them over with compelling proposals.

This is a role where you'll thrive if you love building relationships, working autonomously, and having ownership in the work you do. You’ll have an entrepreneurial drive, commercial mindset and a strong understanding of how agencies operate. Recent exposure to the personal branding, marketing, PR or creative industries is valuable for this role. Perhaps you’re a Business Development Executive or Business Development Manager currently, looking for a new challenge. Key responsibilities

New business development

‍

You’ll oversee the entire process, from lead generation to new client onboarding.
You’ll lead on all inbound new business enquiries (through email and social media).
You’ll take discovery calls with potential Kurogo clients.
You’ll create personalised strategies and proposals for qualified leads.
You’ll lead proposal calls, either individually or alongside our CEO, to sign clients onto our suite of services.
You’ll be confident in picking up the phone and calling potential clients.
You’ll reach out to Kurogo ideal customers to book discovery meetings, via email, LinkedIn and sending Loom videos.
You’ll re-engage and nurture previous leads.

Lead Generation and Marketing

‍

You’ll work with our CEO on lead generation activities, tracking all activity on a campaign level in our CRM.
You’ll support in creating business development-related marketing materials, like lead magnets and coordinate webinars.

Strategy

‍

You’ll collaborate with colleagues to identify new revenue streams and business opportunities.
You’ll find creative ways to get Kurogo in front of our dream clients. For example: forming partnerships with VCs, investment groups, Private Equity firms and networking groups/membership communities.
You’ll get stuck in with refining our positioning as a business, our service offering and how we present this to clients.
You’ll set and own your KPIs and sales forecasts, actively working to achieve them.

Building your personal brand and networking

‍

You’ll build your own personal brand on social media (primarily LinkedIn), to raise your profile, generate brand awareness for Kurogo and build a network of potential clients and partners.
You’ll be an ambassador for Kurogo, representing the business at industry events, conferences and networking events.
You’ll cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners and clients (past and present).

You’ll collaborate with Account Managers and colleagues to identify upsell opportunities for existing clients at the business. This might involve pitching to new clients.
You’ll maintain and develop business development tools, systems and processes (e.g., CRM, automations, cold email flows)

You’ll be a good fit if

You’ll have 2 years’ experience (minimum) in business development - ideally, you’ll have worked at a scaling agency in personal branding, comms, PR, marketing or creative industries.
You’re a self-starter and have entrepreneurial drive - you’re excited to be our first BD hire and help build this function from the ground up.
You’re comfortable working remotely - we’re a fully remote business, though you’ll have the chance to attend events on behalf of the client.
You’ll think like a marketer - whilst we don’t expect you to be a marketing expert, you’ll understand the foundations and are happy to roll up your sleeves to create marketing collateral.
You’re tenacious - our clients are entrepreneurs, CEOs, C-Suite executives and public figures; they’re busy people. So, you’ll need persistence, determination and creativity to cut through the noise and get their attention.
You’ll embrace AI, automations and tech - to streamline your workflows, improve efficiencies and win more business.

You’re results-driven - you’ll set your sales targets and work your socks off to achieve them.

You’re an excellent communicator and able to influence at all levels - strong writing and verbal skills are essential for pitching to clients.
You’re a strategic thinker - able to think big picture and develop unique PR strategies that align with clients' personal brand positioning and business goals.
You’re proactive, self-motivated and have a strong ownership mentality - you are someone who doesn’t wait to be asked, but takes action. This is vital in a business development role!

A typical week could involve

This should give you a glimpse into the variety of the role. You’ll have ownership in this role, so your week is what you make of it!

You’ll respond to inbound inquiries, lead discovery calls and proposal calls, and follow-up with leads.
You’ll prospect potential clients, whether that’s through LinkedIn, email or filming Loom videos, in order to book meetings with CEOs, founders and executives we want to work with.
You’ll track your lead generation and outreach efforts in the CRM, monitoring pipeline progress and campaign performance.
You’ll consider creative ways to connect with our dream clients, such as partnerships with VCs, networking groups or hosting webinars.
You’ll join the CEO for an in-person pitch with a potential corporate client.
You’ll share insights on your LinkedIn to raise your profile and connect with key potential clients and partners.
You’ll join whole-team meetings and Senior Management meetings to align with colleagues and update on your progress.
You’ll attend a networking event, roundtable, business expo or a client launch event.

Objective: to learn more about you, your background and experience, and your interest in the role and Kurogo.
Format: 30 minute video call
Date: w/c 28th October 2024

Stage 2: Final Interview with CEO and COO

Objective: To assess your skills and experience in relation to the specific demands of the role. 72 hours before, you will be set a task which you will present or discuss at the interview.
Format: 1 hour video call
Date: w/c 4th November 2024
